Can a dominant authority figure dominate and repress a narcissist�s narcissism in a definite context?

Ok that sounds weird, but i think the idea it�s kinda clear. For example a narcissist could have grown in a home with a borderline mother, and that borderline mother was the only thing he can't control the way he wants. And he always has to walk on eggshells in order to keep certain stability at home, and he can�t demand everything he wants and is frustrated. Is this a possible scenario? Or this forced submissiveness is not something that a narcissist would submit to?
