Poem or short story for children C/C please?

This is a narrative poem that has been well put together and with the 'chorus': 'and the band played on' holding the story together as each part is told. It's a surreal story, 'Then the goat ate the band' but by the time the reader arrives at that line it all seem perfectly normal for an animal to do just that. Brilliant and original Caz - you are the funniest and the best!
