Harry Potter Hardcover or Paperback?

Ok I am confused.Hardcover or Paperback. I have Harry potter 1,2,3,4,5 in paperback, and 6 in crappy paperback condition. And 4,5,7 in Hardcover.But for the 7th book i lost the sheet cover.and 4 and 5 are oldish brown in the paper. I heard that Hardcover will stay longer without getting wrecked, BUT Paperback doesnt. its meant for reading once. I really like the hardcover but its expensive. but Paperback is cheap but doesnt have words like damnit or shut the hell up or some stuff like that.So im stuck can you help.
