The Sims Bustin Out Cheat help PS2?

Ok, I know the cheats and what websites they came from. What I dont get is why they arent working. For example: The money cheat. I'm playing in FREEPLAY. It says for the cheat gnome to pause the game and quickly press R2 L1 R1 L2 Left Circle. I did that, quickly. I heard a sim noise, but nothing happened. I looked everywhere for that stupid gnome and he isnt there. I did this alot and got nothing. Also for the money, I paused the game and quickly put in L1 R2 Right Square L3. No money came, not even a dollar. So can someone tell me whats wrong?? How do I fix this? Remember, I'm in FREEPLAY
